The film, "Manny," chronicles the life of boxing champ Manny Pacquiao, the Philippines' hero who is set to battle Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a May megafight to unify the welterweight division championships.

Film producers are waging a fight of their own in the hometown of Mayweather, who is originally from Grand Rapids.

Manny Film LLC has filed multiple federal lawsuits in West Michigan over illegal sharing of the movie that is narrated by Liam Neeson and features celebrities such as Jimmy Kimmel and Mark Walberg. The targets are IP address holders who have downloaded and shared the movie using the BitTorrent file-distribution network.

"The Film is being widely infringed on BitTorrent, which has cost Plaintiff a substantial amount in lost revenue," attorney Paul Nicoletti wrote in documents filed Tuesday, March 17, in U.S. District Court in Grand Rapids.
