The Jose Mourinho era is over at Manchester United, but the British press continue to squeeze what remaining headlines they can of the Portuguese manager

Rumours surrounding the manner of his departure continue to rumble on; with The Sun reporting United took the brutal step of clearing out his office just five minutes after the Special One was sacked.

The report suggests Mourinho was handed his marching orders in a face-to-face meeting at the Carrington training complex in the morning, and then just moments later some members of stuff had been dispatched into his quarters to clear it out.

They quote a source at the club as saying: “The club were ruthless in the end. Just minutes after being sacked they were in there.

“It took just 15 minutes to consign Jose to history. They dumped all his stuff into a white transit van.

“He spoke briefly to some of the support staff but spent most of his time in office on the day.”

But that’s not the only Mourinho related information kicking around the back pages, with the Sunday Times (via the Mirror) reporting a star player ultim

ately played a key role in the axing of his now former manager.

The report suggests a frequently used player lost patience following the Red Devils’ 3-1 loss to Liverpool and got on the phone to United chief Ed Woodward to tell him that Mourinho had to be axed.

The telephone call allegedly led to a series of events that essentially sealed his fate. No player is named.
