Manchester United has a mere 13 points from seven games and sits sixth in the Premier League under new manager Jose Mourinho, but is the club's disappointing start actually a good omen?

The Red Devils may be five points off leader Manchester City after winning four, drawing one and losing two so far, but the stats suggest that they may soon pick up some steam.

Mourinho, who has collected three fewer points than his predecessor Louis van Gaal had at the same stage last season, will draw hope from the fact that United has gone on to win the league title three times after collecting 13 points from its first seven games – in 1992-93, 1996-97 and 2010-11.

The other time that the Red Devils collected seven points from 13 games came in 1994-95, when they ended the season in second place.

Expect a spike in form soon, United fans...
