England wicketkeeper Sarah Taylor has withdrawn from the upcoming T20I series against Australia, which is a part of the ongoing Ashes series, owing to mental health issues. Fran Wilson has been picked as Taylor's replacement.

Taylor has been working with the ECB to manage her well-being, which has needed her to take sabbaticals away from the game. She took a lengthy break in 2016, before returning in 2017 to be part of England's World Cup-winning squad. She then had to pull out of last year's World T20 in the Caribbean.

"I first took a break from the game in 2016 but I don't want people to feel this is exactly the same. I've made progress in that time and there are plenty of challenges I've met on the way and hurdles I've overcome," Taylor said.

Taylor, who has been in and out of action owing to her anxiety issues, stressed on the fact that her condition is not one that can be beaten, and that she finds herself in a mindset where she will not be able to partake in the crucial three-game series.

"That said, mental health is not something you 'beat'. It's a continual management process and at the moment I don't feel in a good enough place to compete in international sport."

Having already conceded the Ashes, England find themselves in an improbable position to attain series parity at 8-8, for which they need to win all the three T20Is, starting on Friday (July 26) at Chelmsford.

"I wish the girls all the best across the IT20 series. 8-8 is a very different score from 8-2 and I know they're all working incredibly hard to win these last three matches and draw the series."
