Liverpool edge Palace to extend EPL lead

Liverpool have fought back from a goal down at home to overcome Crystal Palace 4-3 and extend their Premier League lead.

Mohamed Salah scored twice at Anfield as Liverpool moved seven points clear of Manchester City, who face Huddersfield on Sunday.

"The result is massive, we have 60 points now it's crazy, it's an important number," manager Juergen Klopp said.

"I'm really proud."

Elsewhere, Arsenal and Manchester United tightened up the race for the Champions League.

The Gunners defeated Chelsea 2-0 while United beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 to move both within three points of the Blues in the fourth and final qualifying place.

"Today we needed to win, we're still in the race for the top four," Arsenal's Laurent Koscielny told BT Sport.

"The commitment was amazing from all the boys. Today we showed on the pitch which way we want to go."

Crystal Palace, who had won three of their past four league visits to Liverpool, led 1-0 at half-time thanks to Andros Townsend's goal.

Salah pulled Liverpool level a minute after the re-start and Roberto Firmino put them in front moments later.

Palace equalised via a James Hopkins header but then gifted Liverpool the lead when keeper Julian Speroni deflected a cross back towards his own goal and Salah easily put it home for his 16th of the campaign.

Liverpool's James Milner was sent off in the final minute for a second yellow card but Sadio Mane still added their fourth goal in stoppage time.

And it proved to be a crucial one as Max Meyer scored a late consolation for Palace.

Arsenal's Alexandre Lacazette and Laurent Koscielny scored first-half goals at the Emirates and an oft-maligned defence made them stand for just their second clean sheet in 16 league games.

It lifted the Gunners back above Man United, who had earlier gone fifth by extending their perfect record under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Paul Pogba (penalty) and Marcus Rashford scored to give United their seventh straight win overall, and sixth on the bounce in the league.

"We are delighted to get seven wins under Ole," United's Ashley Young said.

"When you are full of confidence you think you are going to win every game."

Diego Jota completed a hat-trick in stoppage time to give Wolverhampton Wanderers a 4-3 win over Leicester City.

Jota's winner capped a wild six-goal second half and came just six minutes after Wes Morgan looked to have rescued a point for Leicester, who twice battled back to equalise.

Fabian Schar scored twice as Newcastle United beat Cardiff City 3-0 to climb out of the relegation zone and drop the Bluebirds into it.

Callum Wilson and Jose King scored as Bournemouth beat West Ham UNited 2-0, Southampton held on to beat Everton 2-1 to move three points above the drop zone while Watford drew 0-0 with Burnley.
