A former Alabama wide receiver who says he quit his job to become an assistant at Florida Atlantic has sued football coach Lane Kiffin, FAU and the state of Florida for fraud, .
In the suit filed Tuesday, Antonio “A.C.” Carter claims Kiffin misled him about the job in order to get a recruit to sign with Owls.
Carter says he believed he had been hired as an assistant strength coach and the prospect, with whom he says he has a family relationship, accepted a scholarship to FAU.
He says in the lawsuit that he responded to FAU's claim by sending documentation that showed that all charges had been resolved, but the university didn't respond and his follow-up inquiries went unanswered. Carter says he even went to far as to wait for hours outside FAU athletic director Patrick Chun's office, but the AD refused to meet with him.
The prospect in question isn't identified by name in the lawsuit, but SEC Country speculates — using hints from the suit's wording — that it could be , a 4-star running back out of Leon High School in Carter's hometown of Tallahassee, Fla.
Carter was a three-year starter for the Crimson Tide until a leg injury ended his career in 2001.
