Kyle Kuzma became the first Lakers rookie since Jerry West to score 25-plus points in three straight games, when he dropped 27 in L.A.’s 113-106 loss at the Warriors on Friday.

Kuzma shot 9 of 15 from the floor, including 3 of 6 from beyond the arc, and also logged a game-high 14 rebounds, two steals and a block.
The 6-foot-9 forward from Utah, is averaging 30 points on better than 64.5 percent shooting over this three-game stretch. His 38 points against the Rockets on Wednesday marked a career high.

Kuzma continues to amass superlatives. He’s averaging 17.7 points per game, which tops among NBA rookies this season (he just passed the 76ers’ Ben Simmons, who is now second with 17.3), and on Wednesday against the Rockets, he became the second Laker rookie in history, after Magic Johnson, to register at least 38 points, seven rebounds and four assists in a single game.

By the way, the Lakers’ other rookie, Lonzo Ball, had a nice game of his own Friday night, with 24 points (5 of 6 from long range), five rebounds and five assists
