The ongoing County Championship season will be Haseeb Hameed's last with Lancashire after the club's decision to not renew the opening batsman's contract.

Hameed made his first-class debut for Lancashire against Glamorgan in 2015 and became the youngest batsman to register 1000 runs for his club three years ago. He also went on to play three Tests for England during the 2016 series in India, in which the then 19-year-old made two half-centuries in six innings of his debut series.

"The club met with Haseeb on Friday and explained its decision, and the 22-year-old is now free to discuss opportunities with other counties," read a Lancashire statement. "The club would like to thank Haseeb for all of his commitment and efforts since he made his first class debut in the 2015 season, having come through the academy."

Hameed's form dropped drastically over the last couple of county seasons. He has averaged 26.10 in the 2017 season, and just 9.7 in 17 innings in 2018.
