Should New Zealand go for a four-pronged pace attack against India, Jamieson could slot right in © Getty

Uncapped fast bowler Kyle Jamieson has earned his maiden Test cap for the upcoming two-match series against India at home on the back of impressive performances in the A set up and the domestic circuit, as well as the recently-concluded ODI series against India.

New Zealand squad:Kane Williamson (captain), Tom Latham, Tom Blundell, Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls, BJ Watling, Colin de Grandhomme, Tim Southee, Neil Wagner, Trent Boult, Ajaz Patel, Kyle Jamieson, Daryl Mitchell.
New Zealand have also welcomed back the experienced Trent Boult, who has been out of action since injuring his right hand in the Boxing Day Test in Australia, and missing the subsequent final Test of that series as well as the limited-overs leg of the home series against India. Boult's return strengthens New Zealand's pace arsenal, bring together the three most experienced quicks in him, Tim Southee and Neil Wagner. Should the hosts consider attacking India with a four-pronged pace attack, Jamieson could slot in.

The spin department sees quite a shake-up as Mitchell Santner has lost his spot in the aftermath of the drubbing at the hands of their Trans-Tasman rivals Australia away from home. In comes Ajaz Patel, who left an indelible mark on his debut series against Pakistan in UAE which New Zealand famously won 2-1. He, however, hasn't been considered since New Zealand's trip to Sri Lanka where they levelled the Test series 1-1. He returns now, potentially with a chance to feature against the country of his birth.

Along with Santner, out went opener Jeet Raval and fast bowler Matt Henry, who all earned mediocre returns Down Under.

The two-Test series kicks off at the Basin Reseve in Wellington on February 21, before the teams head south to Christchurch for the second game from February 29.
