Krzysztof Kasprzak won Sunday's re-arranged Latvian FIM Speedway Grand Prix in Daugavpils to seal a memorable week for the Polish ace.

The 30-year-old had been crowned Polish champion for the first time on Thursday and followed it up with his second SGP success of 2014 after getting around Greg Hancock on the first lap.

He stayed out in front to win, with Nicki Pedersen then passing Hancock to claim second and Kenneth Bjerre coming home fourth at the GP, which had originally been scheduled for Riga on Saturday but was cancelled due to safety concerns following adverse weather.

Kasprzak was delighted to follow up the first SGP win of his career at Bydgoszcz in April, with the victory even sweeter after he had battled through the pain of a leg injury suffered in an opening heat crash.

The other big winner on the night was Hancock, whose 16-point haul saw him leap-frog reigning champion Tai Woffinden at the head of the standings, with the veteran American now having 103 points.

He is now five points ahead of the young Briton, who could only muster eight points on the night, while Pedersen claimed the most points at the meeting - 18 - to sit 17 points behind Hancock in third overall.

Kasprzak's 17-point haul saw him move up to fifth in the overall standings on 76 points.
