Nuwan Pradeep, the Sri Lanka pacer, has been ruled out of the remainder of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 due to Chickenpox. He has been replaced by Kasun Rajitha, whose inclusion in the squad has been approved by the Event Technical Committee.

Pradeep had earlier been out of the game against Bangladesh owing to a finger dislocation he suffered while bowling in the nets. He has now ended his World Cup campaign with only three matches in which he picked up five wickets, including the four-wicket haul against Afghanistan.

Rajitha, who has been with the squad as a stand-by player, last featured in an international game during Sri Lanka's series against South Africa earlier this year. He has played a total of six ODIs, with a tally of five wickets.

Sri Lanka have two more games left to play in the league stage of this World Cup, against West Indies (July 1) and India (July 6). With only six points from seven matches, and currently placed seventh on the points table, their hopes of qualifying for the semifinal hinges on several results needing to go their way.
