A young Sacramento Kings line-up has rallied to overcome a 12-point final-quarter deficit to break a 16-year losing streak in Miami.

The 89-88 upset on Thursday by the Western Conference's worst team was a come-from-behind victory in more ways than one.

After Kings shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanovic missed a mid-range jump shot with 5.8 seconds on the clock, rookie De'Aaron Fox leapt from well behind Heat point guard Goran Dragic to dunk a putback.

Josh Richardson missed a contested seven-metre shot at the buzzer to seal the Kings' first win in Miami since November 2001.

Reserve shooting guard Buddy Hield led the Kings with 24 points, while Fox chipped in with 14.

Fox was one of three rookies for a Sacramento team made up entirely of players with three or fewer years' experience.

Dragic, who missed the previous two games due to a bruised left knee, finished with 23 points for the Heat, who again were without injured shooting guard Tyler Johnson.

The loss delivered the Heat their first set of consecutive losses in seven weeks and snapped a four-game home winning streak.

They still remain fourth in the East behind the Celtics, Raptors and Cavaliers - while the Kings are only a game behind the second-last team in the West, Dallas.

In Oklahoma, Russell Westbrook scored a season-high 45 points to extend the Thunder's winning streak to six with a 121-112 victory over the visiting Washington Wizards.

Paul George finished with 18 points, while Carmelo Anthony added 13 as the Thunder shot 51.7 per cent from the field.

Oklahoma City have won the past 15 matches in which Westbrook, George, Anthony, Andre Roberson and Steven Adams have been in the line-up.

In Denver, Gary Harris led seven players in double figures with 23 points as the Nuggets withstood several comeback attempts by the visiting New York Knicks.

The Nuggets shot 60 per cent for the third time this season and, while repeatedly challenged, led virtually the entire game.

In the late game, Kevin Durant had 28 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds for Golden State who made a season-high 21 three-pointers in a 126-113 victory over Minnesota.

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson each added 25 points for the Warriors, who matched their previous season high of 18 three-pointers by the end of the third quarter. Thompson hit seven, Durant six and Curry connected on five.
