American driver Kim Carter Bard has responded to angry fans venting their rage online about the sold out Monster Trucks Unleashed event at Perth Motorplex on Saturday.

Bard, the driver of monster truck Miss Mayhem, said competitors tried to put on a good show but rain, mud and fogged windscreens made conditions difficult.

“What a mess, but REALLY appreciate the fans who sat in rainy seats and watched us slide around,” she said in a post on Perth Motorplex’s Facebook page.

“We COULD NOT SEE JACK SQUAT due to the mud and totally fogged windscreens.

“We honestly TRIED to put on a good show for everyone. A LOT of money went into this show and we appreciate the price the fans paid for tickets. Love to all of my Awesome Aussie Fans!!”

Her comments come in the wake of a furious online onslaught on Perth Motorplex’s Facebook page from fans who claim the show was a huge let down and badly organised.

Horrendous traffic, long lines for food and toys being confiscated at the entry gate were common gripes with many saying the night was a waste of time and money.
Punters were also disappointed with the quality of the show, with Facebook user Darren Collins claiming shows like this hurt motorsport.

“My nan puts on a better show on her mobility scooter,” he commented.

Bard, a former NASCAR driver, racing instructor and NHRA drag racing series track champion, responded, writing: “Rain+Mud=Monster Trucks On Ice & BLIND Driving. We couldn’t see anything except the painted cars.”

But it was not all negative. Bard’s post prompted replies from a number of parents grateful she had taken time out for her littlest fans, including Belinda Warner who said Bard had made her daughter Indiana’s night.

“She talked about you right up until she fell asleep in the car and now she is sleeping with the hat you gave her,” Ms Warner wrote on Facebook.

“Thank you so much! Hope to see you again next time you guys were amazing xx.”

Perth Motorplex has been contacted for comment.
