Almost a year after he was let go by the BCCI as the coach of the Indian women's team following a clash with senior player and former captain Mithali Raj, former India offspinner Ramesh Powar has been appointed by BCCI as the bowling coach of the India A men's team.

Powar, who played in two Tests and 31 ODIs, has bagged the job for the home series against South Africa A, which includes five One-Dayers and two four-day games.

The BCCI, though, has been involving Powar in its coaching programmes of late. The 41-year-old retired spinner was invited for an elite coaches orientation programme, organised by the NCA in Bangalore, and was the coach at the India under-19 boys' camp at Dharamshala.
