Jason Roy fined for showing dissent towards umpire

England opener Jason Roy has been fined 30 percent of his match fee for breaching Level One of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second semifinal against Australia in Manchester on Thursday (July 11). Two demerit points have also been added to his disciplinary record for the transgression.
As per the ICC, "Roy was found to have breached Article 2.8 ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to showing dissent at an umpires decision in an international match. In addition to the 30% fine, two demerit points have been added to Roy's disciplinary record."
Roy's outburst was the result of umpire Kumar Dharmasena's decision to rule him out after Australia appealed for a caught behind. Dharmasena's decision came a little late, and left the opener flummoxed by it.
Replays showed there was clear daylight between bat and ball, but since Jonny Bairstow had already used up the review unsuccessfully, Roy - who first gestured for a review - had to be told by the square leg umpire to walk off, after he stood his ground and had a few things to say while gesturing towards Dharmasena.
This was viewed as dissent - an offence he admitted to and accepted the sanctions for, after on-field umpires Marais Erasmus and Dharmasena, third umpire Chris Gaffaney and fourth official Aleem Dar levelled the charges against him.
