Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed on Friday (May 17) that they will be hosting a women's A series for the first time with India scheduled to tour in December. The tour consists of three One-Dayers and three Twenty20s with all six games set to be played in Queensland.

The announcement comes after Australia A had a successful tour of India last year. CA also added that Australia would travel to England in July for a 'A' series which will run alongside the women's Ashes.

Shawn Flegler, Female High Performance Manager, said: "Hosting the first A tour for our female cricketers is another important step in the evolution of the National Talent Pathway. A lot of work has gone into the women's pathway and we've already seen numerous players come through the system and show they are capable to taking the next step to International level.

"We now have annual tours for our Australia Under 19 team, the Women's National Performance Squad is in its third year and now being able to schedule regular Australia A tours, both at home and away is the icing on the cake. The additional experience and opportunities these tours present for these talented cricketers is crucial in ensuring that Australia has the depth and talent to maintain its position as one of the most dominant teams in the game."

India A will start their campaign in Brisbane from December 12 with 50-over cricket and then travel to the Gold Coast for the T20s.
