THE Eagles have taken all before them in the past two months, reeling off eight straight wins to surge to the top of the ladder and stake a claim among the AFL’s flag favourites.

No team in the competition has booted more goals than Adam Simpson’s side, with Jack Darling leading a potent attacking set-up that is averaging 103 points per outing.

So the last thing West Coast’s rivals want to see is a reminder that one of the club’s injured forward-line X-factors has lost none of his magic.

Liam Ryan proved that at training this morning, jagging a goal with a ridiculously high level of difficulty.

Standing at the top of the old Eagles playing race deep in the pocket - and outside the boundary line - at Subiaco Oval, Ryan casually executed a checkside goal off a step before an understated celebration.

It’s the kind of elite skill the 21-year-old put on display in the first three games of the season before suffering a serious ankle injury against Geelong.

Ryan is still considered to be at least a month away from a return. But the prospect of the livewire slotting in alongside the likes of Jack Darling, Josh Kennedy, Mark LeCras, Jake Waterman, Willie Rioli and Jamie Cripps in West Coast’s forward half is likely to have Eagles fans counting down the days until his comeback.

Meanwhile, star duo Elliot Yeo and Luke Shuey remain firmly in the frame to take on Hawthorn at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Yeo played out the win over Richmond despite suffering a knee complaint in the first term, while Shuey has not played since suffering a hamstring setback against Port Adelaide earlier this month.

“We had a scare with Elliot on the weekend,” Eagles football manager Craig Vozzo said.

“I think we all had our hearts in our mouth but fortunately the scans and the examination by the docs has established that it’s a sprain – a medial knee sprain.

“There’s a bit of swelling, but he’s tracking actually quite well. He will build lightly into the week and he’ll be a test later on this week.

“Luke is tracking well. He is doing more and more on the track and integrating into training more and more. He’ll be a test later in the week.”
