Injured fast bowler Anrich Nortje has been picked in South Africa's 15-man squad for the 2019 World Cup, while all-rounder Wiaan Mulder and top-order batsman Reeza Hendricks have missed out.

South Africa have picked Andile Phehlukwayo and Dwaine Pretorius as the two all-rounders in the squad, while also putting their faith in the experience of an out-of-form Hashim Amla, who has scored just three half-centuries and a hundred since February 2018.

Squad: Faf du Plessis, JP Duminy, David Miller, Dale Steyn, Andile Phehlukwayo, Imran Tahir, Kagiso Rabada, Dwaine Pretorius, Quinton de Kock, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, Aiden Markram, Rassie van der Dussen, Hashim Amla, Tabraiz Shamsi
Accompanying Amla in the batting department is Aiden Markram, whose exceptional form in the domestic one-day competition was enough for him to edge out Hendricks. Markram finished the 2019 List A season at the top of the batting charts with 542 runs in five innings at an average of 108.40 - including three hundreds and one fifty.

The pace attack will be led by Kagiso Rabada and Dale Steyn, while the injured Lungisani Ngidi - who is expected to recover soon - has also been included. Imran Tahir and Tabraiz Shamsi have been picked as the two spinners, with JP Duminy bringing in part-time spin bowling to the attack.

Quinton de Kock is the only wicket-keeping option named in the squad, with the likes of David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen expected to fill in as back-ups.

"We are very happy with the squad we have been able to put together and have every confidence in their ability to do our country proud at the World Cup," CSA National Selection Panel convener Linda Zondi said.

"The fact that we have managed to win our last five series in a row in this format against Zimbabwe, Australia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka twice underlines the quality of the team that Faf will lead into the contest.

"The final selection is also the result of a very rigorous search we have conducted, leaving no stone unturned, to make sure that we have made the best use of the options available to us."

South Africa will begin their 2019 campaign against hosts England at the Oval on May 30.
