Ideas needed to make Formula1 interesting to watch

Can we please use this thread for ideas on how to make f1 interesting rather than the boring processions we now see.

eg my idea is when 1 car retires let a new car/driver begin from pits so theres always 26 cars ..gives young drivers track time

so what are your ideas ..far fetched ideas are fine eg obstacles thrown onto track etc !!!

Great thread! I've been thinking about this myself and why I don't watch F1 anymore.

Well there are so many different things they can do to improve viewing for spectators, but I will start by bringing back the v10 engines, or atleast v8s. Don't get me wrong I love turbocharged cars but they have no place in F1 racing.

I'd rather hear the full roar of a naturally aspirated v10 engine over the high pitched moaning of a turbocharged v6 anyday!

    @weatherfan and @beninho i love F1 as well...

Unfortunately the problem is a little bit complicated.
Everybody would prefer those old engines with the 18000 RPM...
Everybody would prefer more drivers and manufacturers...
Everybody would prefer more test that would give the opportunity to the rest teams to catch up the leaders...

So, as we know, "no money, no honey". Since the tobacco companies are not allowed to be advertised on F1 any more, the teams have serious financial problems.
Last but not least, FIA is ripping off the F1 teams. They are making A LOT of money from their deals with the circuits, the TV channels etc, and they give bullshit to the teams...

That is actually a very good point, one reason why I think they went 'green' with the smaller engines. Whether it works and they are able to attract more sponsors I dont know. In my view they should just allow the tobacco companies to sponsor who they want

All the changes they have made the last years, are in order to reduce the cost:
Less available engines per year for each team...
Less winter tests (and less mid-season tests as well)...
They have frozen the engines development...

All these were maybe good ideas to keep the sport alive (otherwise many teams wouldn't be able to afford it and they would retire) but F1 is definitely not as glamorous as it used to be in the past!

How about forcing manufacturers to sell Cars to other teams so for example williams could buy a Ferrari car and engine ! im all for finding out who is best driver so the more drivers in same cars the better ( for me)

Return refuelling perhaps brings some tactical suprise, and gives a way to teams with flexible strategies. Obviously airflow behind the car is very turbulent and it needs to do something with that to make overtaking a bit easier.
