Hayley Matthews, the West Indies vice captain, has been withdrawn from the squad just before the ODI series against Australia that got underway in Antigua on Thursday (September 5). According to Cricket West Indies, the 21-year-old all-rounder was charged with a Code of Conduct breach for an incident that took place on Wednesday in Antigua.

"Hayley Matthews has been withdrawn from the West Indies Women's squad for the upcoming series against Australia. This has arisen from a charge of breaching the CWI Code of Conduct following an incident that took place on Wednesday 4th September 2019 in Antigua. The matter has been referred to CWI Disciplinary Tribunal," stated a media release.

With Matthews out of the series, West Indies were dealt another blow with several senior players already missing from the squad due to injuries. Meanwhile, the selectors have named Sheneta Grimmond, an uncapped 21-year-old offspinner from Guyana, as a replacement for Matthews.
