WHEN reflecting on the current Premier League striking hierarchy, most would divert their attention to Spurs talisman Harry Kane or last season’s golden boot winner Mohamed Salah.

But overnight a new name was added to the league’s top 10 scorers of all time in devastating fashion.

Sergio Aguero’s scintillating hat trick in Manchester City’s 6-1 rout over Huddersfield saw the Argentine front man take his tally to a jaw dropping 146 in just 208 games.

Aguero blew past former Manchester United and Arsenal star Robin Van Persie to draw level with Premier League legend Teddy Sheringham in 10th spot all time.

Only one current player sits ahead of the City striker in the rankings, with Bournemouth’s Jermain Defoe in 7th spot with 162 goals.

Aguero has just entered his eighth season in the English top tier, and despite only netting one golden boot award, has found the net with startling regularity as he spearheaded three Premier League title triumphs.

The 30-year-old has scored 20 plus goals in each of the last four campaigns – a statistic made even more impressive considering his chequered injury history.

According to transfermarkt.com, since arriving at City from Atletico Madrid in the 2012-13 season, Aguero has suffered 13 separate injury layoffs.

While most have been fairly brief, in total, he’s been ruled out for 318 days and 54 matches.

Regardless, when on the pitch, few have proven as lethal in front of goal.

At just 30, Aguero could yet have a number of years left in the Premier League, and should he remain fit and firing, he could continue to charge up the all-time rankings.

Should he maintain his recent rampant scoring form and notch the magic 20-goal mark this season, the City star would find himself in elite company.

Assuming he does so, Aguero would surpass Les Ferdinand, Michael Owen, Defoe and Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler to land in sixth spot all time.

The names that would sit ahead of him read as a who’s who of Premier League goal scoring.

Alan Shearer (260), Wayne Rooney (208), Andrew Cole (187), Frank Lampard (177) and Thierry Henry (175) sit atop the star-studded rankings.

Should Aguero continue to find the net consistently, he could soon stamp himself as one of the greatest of all time.
