Fremantle will have a dream start to the 2019 AFL season, facing three non-finals teams in consecutive weeks.

The Dockers open their campaign against North Melbourne at Optus Stadium on March 24.

Their only away trip in the first month is against Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium in round two on March 31.

Consecutive Burswood fixtures follow against St Kilda (April 7) and cross-town rivals West Coast (April 13).

The second western derby of the year, in round 16, will also be a Saturday night clash.

Boom recruits Rory Lobb (GWS Giants) and Jesse Hogan (Melbourne) are set to face their former clubs for the first time in round five and 14 respectively, both away games.

Off-season exit Lachie Neale returns to Perth as a Brisbane Lion in round 10 for a Sunday clash at Optus Stadium.

THE GOOD
As well as a relatively easy start to the season, the Dockers have the advantage of playing four non-finals sides twice - Port Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, Essendon and St Kilda - as well as the Eagles.

Fremantle will play four Saturday night home games under lights against the Bulldogs (round six), Eagles (round 16), Sydney (round 18) and the Bombers (round 22).

They also have few Sunday home games, down from seven last season to five.

THE BAD
Several daunting away trips await the Dockers in 2019, no bigger than last season’s grand finalists Collingwood at the MCG in round 11.

Another tough MCG assignment is on three weeks later against preliminary finalists Melbourne.

The Dockers return to an unhappy hunting ground, UTAS Stadium in Launceston, in round 17 to face Hawthorn.

Freo have a 1-10 record at the venue and have never beat the Hawks there, with their only win coming against St Kilda in the infamous ‘sirengate’ clash in 2006.

THE UGLY
Fremantle are one of just three teams to not get a Thursday or Friday night match next season, with Gold Coast and St Kilda the others.

The round 17 Launceston clash is one of the long-haul trips for Freo.

They also have to play the GWS Giants in Canberra (round five) and Brisbane at the Gabba (round 10).

Six six-days breaks also isn’t a great result, but at least the Dockers don’t have any five-day breaks.
