Aljaz Bedene is the first British representative into the second round of the French Open after beating Ryan Harrison on Monday.

British No 3 Bedene prevailed 6-4 6-0 3-6 6-1 on Court 3 to build upon his brilliant season on the clay so far.

The Slovenian-born player has now won 21 out of 24 matches this year on the surface, racking up two titles in the process, and outclassed America's Harrison on Monday.

Bedene broke Harrison's first and last service games of the first set, before a stunning whitewash within just 18 minutes put him two sets ahead.

Harrison, who only won seven points in the entirety of the second set, was able to stop the rot by taking the third set but he could only delay the inevitable.

Bedene, the world No 52, reached the third round of last year's French Open. To equal that achievement he must get beyond either 14th seed Jack Sock or Jiri Vesely in the second round.
