Breakout Fremantle defender Alex Pearce will miss a number of weeks after breaking his thumb in the club’s three-point win over Adelaide at Optus Stadium.

Pearce hurt his thumb early in the game but continued playing, a feat which drew praise from coach Ross Lyon in the wash up.

However the Dockers coach said it was an injury which would require surgery to correct.

“He (Pearce) played on without an injection so he’s a pretty tough kid,” Lyon said.

“I don’t know how many people could do that. They will have to pin it, there’s a bit going on there. He will probably miss a number of weeks I would think.”

The coach also revealed 2017 first-round pick Griffin Logue will miss up to eight weeks with a significant ankle injury sustained in the WAFL on Saturday.
