England have included Fran Wilson for the first one-dayer of the Ashes, set to begin on Tuesday in Leicester. The 24-year old batter has played 24 one-dayers for England, with the last one being against West Indies in the recently-concluded series.

Wilson played only one match in the one-dayers against West Indies, scoring an unbeaten 4, but took an impressive catch at cover to dismiss Hayley Matthews. She followed that up with innings of 20 and 91 for England Academy Women against Australia in the two warm-up games.

Veteran all-rounder Jenny Gunn and Lauren Winfield have also found a place in the 14-member squad against Australia. Skipper Heather Knight, who sat out with a hamstring injury in the T20I against West Indies, has recovered well and will be available for the opening game of the series.

Speaking about the selection, Knight said, "You play cricket for series like this, they're special, so we're all just raring to go. It wasn't an easy squad to pick. We've won 14 games in a row and during that time different people have performed and stuck their hand up. That bodes well for the Ashes and hopefully, we can maintain that form throughout this series.

"We're really happy with this group. There's a good feeling amongst us and we want to go out there and regain the Ashes. That's our primary focus for the next month."

England are going through an impressive run of form, having been unbeaten in their last 14 matches, and would look to continue that against their arch-rivals. The Ashes will be played over three ODIs, a one-off four-day Test and three T20Is. There are two points for grabs for each ODI and T20 win, while four points at stake in the Test match.
