BRUMBIES hooker Folau Fainga’a gave a brilliant Wallabies audition in the upset win over the Hurricanes.

He headlines Fox Sports Lab’s Super Rugby team of the week for round 17.

Loosehead prop: Karl Tu’inukuafe (Chiefs)
Tu’inukuafe kept a stable platform up front and helped force one scrum penalty.

In addition to his strong scrummaging, Tu’inukuafe had five carries for 30 metres, one linebreak and a linebreak assist.

On the defensive end, Tu’inukuafe made five tackles without a miss.

The rise of the new All Blacks cult hero has been one of the best stories of the season and the Chiefs are desperate to retain his services for next year and beyond.

Hooker: Folau Fainga’a (Brumbies)
Fainga’a was in fine nick against the Hurricanes on a cool Saturday evening in Canberra.

The Wallabies squad member scored his second try in as many weeks — his third for the season — and had 11 carries for 83 metres, including two linebreaks and four tackle busts.

Fainga’a was also near perfect in his lineout duties with 18 wins from 19 throws (95 per cent).

Tighthead prop: Sekope Kepu (Waratahs)
Fresh off the June Test series, Kepu helped force two scrum penalties against the Rebels.

Kepu also made a season high 16 tackles and had two carries for 10 metres.

Lock: Rory Arnold (Brumbies)
Arnold put in an inspiring shift to help the Brumbies snap a 13 game losing streak against their New Zealand counterparts.

The huge second rower was into everything with a try, 13 carries for 76 metres, a linebreak, a linebreak assist, four tackles and a competition high 10 lineout wins.

Special mention to Rebels lock Matt Philip who put in a stellar performance in a losing side.

Lock: Guido Petti (Jaguares)
Petti was outstanding on all fronts against a gritty Stormers outfit.

In attack, Petti scored a try and broke the 100 metre mark for the first time in his career with 125 run metres from just seven carries.

In defence, Petti made 11 tackles without a miss.

The Pumas lock also made four lineout steals and won two of his own for six wins in total.

Blindside flanker: Luke Jacobson (Chiefs)
The 21-year-old has been an emerging talent for the Chiefs this season.

Jacobson scored a try — making it three in two games — and had eight carries for 49 metres, along with a linebreak and two tackle busts.

Jacobson was also perfect in defence, making all 16 of his tackles.

Openside flanker: David Pocock (Brumbies)
Pocock just edges out Colby Fainga’a for the No 7 jersey this week.

A tough one to call, but Pocock was at the heart of a vintage Brumbies win.

Pocock had five carries for 28 metres, one linebreak assist, one try assist, 11 tackles and a pilfer.

No 8: Akira Ioane (Blues)
Ioane racked up 169 metres from 13 carries, along with three linebreaks and 11 tackle busts.

In addition to his menacing attack, Ioane had four tackles and won a lineout steal as he continues to push his claims for an All Blacks callup.

Scrumhalf: Brad Weber Chiefs)
The sparky No 9 contributed four carries for 21 metres, two linebreak assists, a try assist, and nine tackles.

Weber was at the heart of the Chiefs’ ridiculous 42-0 first half against the Highlanders in Suva.

Flyhalf: Hayden Parker (Sunwolves)
Perhaps the most competitive position to choose from this week with excellent performances from a long list of five-eighths.

Parker gets the nod after another strong performance which continues his remarkable stretch of goalkicking this year.

The former Highlanders pivot has slotted his last 35 goals and has made 40 from 41 attempts this season.

He now holds the record for most consecutive goals (35) in Super Rugby since 2007, eclipsing Marty Banks who previously held the record with 29.

All up, Parker scored 17 points (one try and six conversions) in the win over the Bulls to go with three carries for 19 metres, one linebreak, three linebreak assists and eight tackles.

Left winger: Andrew Muirhead (Brumbies)
Muirhead is enjoying some late season scoring form, dotting down in his last three matches and running amok in open field.

Muirhead had seven carries for 87 metres, two linebreaks, three tackle busts, and three tackles without a miss.

Inside centre: Michael Little (Sunwolves)
A great foil for Sunwolves general Parker.

Little scored a try, ran 12 times for 98 metres, had one linebreak, one linebreak assist, one try assist, 10 tackles without a miss and two ruck and maul forced penalties.

Outside centre: Curtis Rona (Waratahs)
Will be in contention to start for the Wallabies following the season ending injury to Samu Kerevi.
Rona had nine carries for 71 metres, two linebreaks, two linebreak assists, three tackle busts, and 12 tackles.

Right winger: Bautista Delguy (Jaguares)
Delguy continued his scoring form, crossing over for one of the best solo tries of the week.

He has now scored four tries in his last three matches and has nine for the season.

Along with his five pointer, Delguy had nine carries for 124 metres, two linebreaks, nine tackle busts, and made all four of his tackles.

Fullback: Solomon Alaimalo (Chiefs)
Alaimalo has been an exciting revelation for the Chiefs this year and his transition to fullback has made him a real threat in open play.

The 22-year-old scored a try, had nine carries for 129 metres, two linebreaks, 11 tackle busts and two offloads.
