Gryaztsov and Popov for an unknown reason did not get on the list of Russians admitted to the Olympics

MOSCOW, Feb. 14 (RIA Novosti). Skater Sergei Gryaztsov and bobsledder Dmitry Popov were admitted to the Olympic Games-2018, but for some unknown reason they were not in the final list of Russian athletes who can go to the Games. This follows from the reasoning of the decisions of the Sports Arbitration Court (CAS) for 47 Russians who have not received an invitation from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which is published on the CAS official website.

The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) granted the invitation review team a list of 500 athletes who could potentially receive them. Approved 389 candidates, including Gryaztsov and Popov. However, "for some reason" they did not get to the final list of athletes admitted before the Games.

During CAS hearings on the appeal of 47 Russians (including Gryaztsova and Popova), the parties came to the conclusion that Gryaztsov and Popov have the right to participate in the Olympics. However, the CAS field office considered the claims of both sportsmen controversial.

In the application of the Russian team for the Olympics as a result, 169 people were included.

Earlier CAS rejected the claims of 32 Russian athletes who did not receive an invitation from the IOC for the 2018 Olympics, as well as 13 Russian athletes and two coaches who were suspended for life by the IOC for violating the anti-doping rules for the Sochi Olympics, but are subsequently acquitted.
