Epic BBL bat flip fail cleans up photographers before Sydney Thunder

The introduction of the bat flip at the start of Big Bash League fixtures was introduced this season to some controversy.

After this effort on Monday night, we’re tipping Australia Day Ambassador Sonia Sadiq Gandhi would rather they’d stuck with tossing the coin.

Invited to flip the bat to kick off the Sydney Thunder v Melbourne Renegades fixture at Spotless Stadium on Monday afternoon, Ms Ghandhi lost her grip, sending the bat flying into a row of photographers there to capture the result.

“We’ve just taken out about 14 photographers and a light tower over here,” Channel 7 match-day host Andy Maher said.

“Sonia, I’m not sure we have insurance for that but well done.”
