Former South Africa international Elriesa Theunissen-Fourie, aged 25, passed away in a motor-car accident in Stilfontein, North West on Friday (April 5).

The medium pacer represented her country in three One-Day Internationals and one T20I in 2013. She was even part of South Africa's 2013 World Cup squad, and made her one-day debut in the mega tournament against Pakistan in Cuttack.

Even as she played her last international match in September 2013, she continued to remain active in domestic cricket till the end of 2016, and was also part of a few Emerging Players tournaments, before going on maternity leave. She also worked as a coach in community cricket.

In the accident, the life of her child was also lost.

"This is a dreadful tragedy in the true sense of that word," Thabang Moroe, CSA Chief Executive, said. "This is devastating news for all of us. Elriesa did so much for the community in which she lived and gave excellent service both as a national player of note and in the work she did at grassroots level to help in the less fortunate communities.

"On behalf of the CSA Family I extend our deepest sympathy to her husband, Rudy, her family, friends and all her cricketing colleagues."
