Roger Binny, the former India all-rounder, was elected president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association following a sweeping victory in the election held on Thursday (October 3). Binny, who had previously served as vice president of KSCA, received 943 votes while his competitor M.M Harish got 111.

J. Abhiram was elected vice-president while Santosh Menon became the secretary as the Brijesh Patel-backed group won all 16 seats (five office bearers and 11 managing committee members). Vinay Mruthyunjaya was elected treasurer while Shavir Tarapore, the former international umpire, was elected joint secretary. Shanta Rangaswamy, who recently resigned as a member of the Cricket Advisory Committee, was elected as a managing committee member.

Meanwhile, Brijesh Patel, the former KSCA secretary, has been chosen as KSCA's representative for the BCCI's AGM which will be held on October 23. "We name Brijesh Patel to attend, contest and vote from the KSCA at the BCCI AGM. We will be informing the CoA and the BCCI electoral officer. Tomorrow is the last day to file the nomination," Menon told reporters.

October 4 is the last date for the state associations to hold the elections as per the Supreme Court order. Binny is among several former cricketers to be elected to the top post. Sourav Ganguly was re-elected as the President of Cricket Association of Bengal while Mohammad Azharuddin was elected as the President of Hyderabad Cricket Association. Jaydev Shah, the former Saurashtra cricketer, won the state elections for the post of President of the Saurashtra Cricket Association.
