Port Vale have announced that defender Carl Dickinson has signed a new two-year deal.

Dickinson becomes the club's first out-of-contract player to put pen to paper on fresh terms, committing himself to the club until the summer of 2016.

The 27-year-old was a mainstay in the team during his first season at Vale Park following his arrival from Watford.

Manager Micky Adams told the club's official website: "I'm delighted he's committed himself to the club. He is a whole-hearted player who the fans took to last season and I look forward to working with him again next season"
