DAVID Warner has broken his silence after wife Candice revealed she suffered a miscarriage in the aftermath of the Australian ball-tampering scandal.

Ms Warner, 33, told Australian Women’s Weekly this week that her ‘heartbreaking’ loss came just days after her husband made a tearful apology for his involvement in the plot.

“I called Dave to the bathroom and told him I was bleeding. We knew I was miscarrying. We held one another and cried,” she said.

Warner took to social media on Thursday night, paying tribute to his wife’s ‘courage’ during, and after the ill-fated tour of South Africa.

He said his family has endured a devastating two months, which included Candice being targeted by South African fans for her infamous ‘toilet tryst’ with former NRL star Sonny Bill Williams.

The difficult period also involved him being sent home in disgrace and banned from domestic and international cricket for 12 months for masterminding the plot to cheat against the South Africans.

“When you’re living the dream you must enjoy every moment of it regardless of the highs and lows,’ he wrote to Instagram.

“We as a family have been through one of the toughest times ever the last few months but nothing will ever stop us from being just us.

“My wife, my rock has endured pain, disappointment, regrets in her past and so many highs and lows but the courage Candice has shown in recent months is a testament to the qualities she has as a mother, person, friend and wife.

Im grateful everyday I get to call her my wife and my soulmate, I wouldn’t want it any other way.”

Earlier this week, Ms Warner told Australian Women’s Weekly her miscarriage was “a heartbreaking end to a horror tour”.

She added: “The ordeal from the public humiliations to the ball-tampering had taken its toll and, from that moment, we decided nothing will impact our lives like that again.”

Ms Warner also took the opportunity to apologise to Williams after their 2007 rendezvous resurfaced in the lead up to the cricket scandal.
