It’s only early days, but Cruz Hewitt already shares plenty of his father’s traits.

With the trademark backwards cap, blonde locks, fist pump and ‘come on’ celebration, the 10-year-old son of Australian tennis legend Lleyton Hewitt taught Sam Groth a lesson on the ping pong table.

While it was only a small sample size on a much smaller court, Hewitt Jr had some impressive shots in his arsenal and moved smoothly, giving Australian tennis fans plenty to get excited about for the future.

The video was posted on Instagram by Cruz’s mum, Bec Hewitt, complete with a cheeky dig at Groth, who obviously came off second best.

“@cruzhewitt in his element! Better luck next time @Samgrothtennis 😉,” she posted.

If Cruz turns out to be half the player his 37-year-old father, a former world No.1 who won two grand slam titles during his decorated career, was on the court, we’ll be in for a treat.
