Division One

Yorkshire vs Lancashire

The Battle of the Roses officially ended as a draw but visitors Lancashire walked away with 13 points as well as bragging rights after making Yorkshire follow on. The hosts despite Joe Root's fine first-innings hundred made only 379 in response to Lancashire's 566/9 decl. They ran the risk of defeat on the final day when Root was bowled by James Anderson with the scorecard reading 45/3. But an unbeaten 82 from Harry Brook saved Yorkshire the blushes and forced a draw. They were 169/6 when the teams shook hands.

Kent vs Surrey

Rain scuppered Surrey's victory push on the final day of their clash against Kent in Beckenham with only 9.2 overs of play possible. Kent had moved to 114/1 in their second innings after being made to follow on by the table-toppers, who had racked up 671 before bowling their hosts out for 230 in the first innings. The unlikely draw for Kent lifted them off the bottom of the standings with Gloucestershire taking their place.

Warwickshire vs Northamptonshire

Only 10 wickets fell over four days of play at Edgbaston as Warwickshire and Northamptonshire played out a batting slugfest that ended in an inevitable draw. The hosts, responding to Northamptonshire's 597/6, reached 568/4 with Sam Hain finishing with an unbeaten 202, having put on 254* for the fifth wicket with Matthew Lamb, who helped himself to 155 on this featherbed of a track. As many as nine bowlers rolled their arm over for Northamptonshire, who remain one of only three winless teams in the division so far.

Division Two

Middlesex vs Nottinghamshire

Rain denied Nottinghamshire an opportunity to go for the kill as Middlesex hung in for a draw. Having already lost three wickets on the third day before stumps chasing a mammoth 515, Nottinghamshire needed a special effort with the bat to get a draw out of this contest. Sam Robson then stepped up at the right time with his second successive century to keep Nottinghamshire at bay before rain arrived to wipe out any chance for the bowling side.

Leicestershire vs Sussex

Trailing by 45 runs with just five wickets left in hand going into the final day, Leicestershire still managed to cling on for a draw. Harry Swindells and Callum Parkinson were at the forefront of Leicestershire's fight as they added 111 runs for the eighth wicket, battling for 46 overs. Eventually, Leicestershire lost nine wickets but the stubborn resistance saw them take the lead to 93 before the teams shook hands.

Durham vs Glamorgan

In a dramatic turnaround, Glamorgan were shot out for just 137 on the final day as they lost to Durham by 58 runs. Glamorgan were the favourites heading into the final day, needing 126 runs with seven wickets still in hand. However, Matty Potts ripped through the Glamorgan lineup to add five more wickets to his tally after picking up two before stumps on day 3. Brydon Carse chipped in with a couple of wickets as well.

Derbyshire vs Worcestershire

On expected lines, the contest between Derbyshire and Worcestershire ended in a draw. In a high-scoring game that saw Derbyshire fetch a 197-run lead, Worcestershire responded in style in the second innings on the final day. Jake Libby displayed tremendous patience, battling hard for 306 deliveries enroute to 105 whereas the overseas recruit Azhar Ali made 60 off 152 balls. Their stand that lasted almost 48 overs was enough to steer Worcestershire to safety before Jack Haynes came out and frustrated Derbyshire further with an unbeaten 16 that took him 140 deliveries.
