BRONCOS winger Corey Oates has reportedly sacrificed up to $200,000 a season to commit to Brisbane.

The Courier Mail is reporting the 23-year-old has shunned offers of up to $600,000 from Newcastle, St George Illawarra and North Queensland to remain with the Broncos, despite previously stating he would leave the club if Wayne Bennett did.

However, Oates’ manager George Mimis has told The Courier Mail his contract was in the final stages of completion with the Broncos and is expected to be confirmed before November 1.

“A new contract for Corey is imminent,” Mimis said.

“We have had very respectful and promising negotiations.

“We’ve had some expressions of interest from the market but at no stage have we entered into negotiations with anyone else because it was always Corey’s desire to remain a Bronco.

“Both parties are keen to continue a successful relationship. Corey’s preference was to always stay at the Broncos.”

Oates and Bennett have a close relationship and his commitment to the club comes despite the Broncos’ search for a new coach for 2020.

The club will now turn their attention to fellow off-contract stars Matt Lodge and Tevita Pangai Jnr.
