The conflict of interest case against Rahul Dravid has been dismissed by BCCI ethics officer DK Jain. The former India captain found himself engulfed in the conflict quandary after Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association life member Sanjiv Gupta questioned Dravid's role as the head of the National Cricket Academy while also serving as vice-president of India Cements, an organisation with close ties to IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings.

"I have rejected the complaint. Rahul Dravid doesn't have conflict of interest," Jain told Press Trust of India on Thursday (November 14).

"I am convinced that on facts at hands, a case of conflict of interest as enshrined is the Rules is not made out. Resultantly, the complaint is dismissed being bereft of any merit," the order from Jain read.

As per Rule 38 (4) of BCCI constitution, an individual can't occupy more than one position at the same time. Dravid was appointed the head of NCA in July this year and is in charge of all cricket-related activities, which includes "mentoring, coaching, training and motivating players, coaches and support staff.

"To put it differently, for examining an instance of conflict of interest', mere holding of posts by an individual associated with the BCCI, as identified in Sub-rule (4) of Rule 38 of the Rules, may not per-se be sufficient for arriving at the conclusion of existence of 'conflict of interest'," Jain's report read.

"But whether holding of such post(s) gives rise to 'conflict of interest' or not must also be tested on the anvil of reasonable apprehensions of, or actual favoritism, lack of objectivity, bias, benefits, etc., as contemplated in the definition of 'conflict of interest' in Rule (A)(g) of the Rules."
