The Socceroos will take on Oman in an Asian Cup warm-up clash on December 30 in Dubai, the FFA has confirmed.

The clash had been mooted for a number of weeks, and the details are now locked in, with the match to take place at Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum Stadium at 11pm AEDT.

Oman are coached by former Socceroos boss Pim Verbeek, and rank 82nd in the world. Fox Sports will broadacst the match with Simon Hill and Sasa Ognenovski on commentary duties live from the UAE.

“With limited days to prepare for the upcoming AFC Asian Cup, Sunday’s match against Oman represents a great opportunity for us to refresh some of the principles that we worked on during our September, October, and November camps,” Socceroos coach Graham Arnold said.

“Importantly, the game against Oman will serve as a great chance to provide players that haven’t played as regularly with their clubs match minutes against a strong west Asian nation.

“It will also be nice to see Pim [Verbeek] again. We shared many great memories with the Socceroos and he has done a fantastic job with Oman. We are expecting a tough match but also a game played in a great spirit as both nations prepare for the tournament proper.”

The Socceroos begin their Asian Cup campaign against Jordan on January 6.
