The Committee of Administrators has provisionally lifted the indefinite suspension on cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul with immediate effect, the BCCI said in a media release on Thursday (January 24). The inquiry into the matter will continue once the Supreme Court appoints an Ombudsman.

"The above matter and decision has been taken with the concurrence of the Learned Amicus Curiae, Mr. P.S. Narasimha. In view of the above, the suspension orders dated 11.01.2019 is immediately lifted pending appointment and adjudication of the allegations by the BCCI Ombudsman," BCCI said in the statement issued.

On January 11, Pandya and Rahul were suspended by the board with immediate effect for their inappropriate comments on the television talk show, are now available for selection to the national and state teams again.

The SC was supposed to appoint an Ombudsman in the last court hearing held last Thursday (January 17) to decide on the matter of the duo's suspension. However, the apex court had adjourned the case to February 5.

The position of the BCCI Ombudsman has been vacant since Justice AP Shah relinquished his position.
