Chelsea could be forced to continue paying Jose Mourinho - even if he lands the Manchester United job.
The Telegraph says under the terms of Mourinho's Stamford Bridge sacking, Chelsea will have to make up any shortfall in earnings until the end of the season, should Mourinho take a new job.
The Portuguese boss was handed a new contract worth £10million a year in August, but can only expect around £6m to take the job at United.
If Mourinho was to replace Louis van Gaal early in the new year, Chelsea could be forced to pay him around £1.5million as a result.
Mourinho is also a reported target of Real Madrid as they continue to ponder over the future of Rafa Benitez, following two torrid months.
