Cats cut luckless forward, speedy midfielder
EXPERIENCED duo Daniel Menzel and Jordan Murdoch have been delisted by Geelong.
Menzel, the highly talented forward who recovered from four knee reconstructions and played 73 games for the Cats, kicked 136 goals in his time in the hoops.
The 27-year-old played just 13 AFL games this year, struggling to overcome a reaction to an injection for a groin injury.
Menzel first suffered a torn ACL in the 2011 qualifying final and made his long-awaited return in round 22, 2015.
He had signed a one-year deal at the end of last year, and back in April coach Chris Scott said the club would not offer him a longer deal due to his injury history.
"Dan's perseverance and resilience to undergo four major knee operations and come back the way he has is a credit to his work ethic and mental toughness," Geelong general manager of football Simon Lloyd said.
Murdoch, a pacey half-forward, made his debut in 2012 and played 108 games for Geelong, kicking 73 goals.
The 26-year-old played 16 games this year.
"Jordan showed great commitment and dedication during his time with the club and we thank him for his efforts over the past seven years," Lloyd said.
"Everyone at the club wishes Daniel and Jordan well in their future endeavours."
