JOSE Mourinho’s Manchester United have been sent crashing out of the Carabao Cup by none other than Frank Lampard and his plucky Derby County.

90 minutes wasn’t enough to settle with the going to penalties, where a masterclass of spot kicks was on display - that was until Phil Jones stepped up.

Meanwhile, a Manchester City young gun bagged his first senior goal for the club, as they glided past a helpless Oxford side.

Here’s a wrap of all the Carabao Cup action!

MANCHESTER UTD 2-2 DERBY COUNTY (7-8 ON PENS)
Frank Lampard got one over his former mentor as Derby County dumped Manchester United out of the Carabao Cup.

It looked like the Rams were in for a rough night when Juan Mata broke the deadlock for the hosts after just three minutes.

But the Championship side refused to roll over and they drew level in stunning fashion thanks to Harry Wilson’s free-kick.

Things went from bad to worse for the Red Devils when goalkeeper Sergio Romero was given his marching orders for handling outside the area on 67 minutes.

However the nightmare was only just beginning for Mourinho and his side as Jack Marriot pounced from close-range but Marouane Fellaini spared United’s blushes with a late equaliser.

But Phil Jones failed to keep his nerve from the spot as he fluffed his attempt in the shootout as the Rams advanced 7-6 on penalties.

OXFORD 0-3 MANCHESTER CITY
Phil Foden scored his first senior goal as Manchester City eased into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a 3-0 victory at Oxford United on Tuesday.

Gabriel Jesus sent the defending champions on their way to victory, nodding home from close range in the 36th minute, before Riyad Mahrez (78) doubled Pep Guardiola’s side’s advantage with a superb counter-attacking goal.

Foden, who played a brilliant pass in the build-up to Mahrez’s strike, rounded off proceedings in stoppage time with his first goal for City, ending Sky Bet League One side Oxford’s spirited challenge in the process.

WOLVES 0-0 LEICESTER (1-3 ON PENALTIES)
Danny Ward’s three penalty shoot-out saves sent Leicester into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup after a goalless draw at Wolves.

The visitors’ dominated the first half, enjoying 75 per cent of possession in the opening 15 minutes, but their final ball was poor and they had only two misses from Adrian Silva to show for it.

They finally came close just before the break when Rachid Ghezzal’s sidefoot was cleared off the line, but after half-time Wolves improved markedly and should have scored when Ivan Cavaleiro was played through but missed from eight yards.

An increasingly end-to-end game somehow ended goalless and it was in the shoot-out when Leicester again took the initiative, with Ward making three strong saves before Kalechi Iheanacho slotted in the winning spot-kick to give them a 3-1 penalty win.
