Quarterback Derek Carr has the Oakland Raiders sitting at 4-1 and in the playoff hunt for the first time in a long time. ESPN Insiders Matt Bowen and Mike Sando analyze Carr's game: Whom he really compares to, where he has improved the most, where he can still get better and, finally, whether it's OK to call him a star.

Bowen: Some parts of Carr's game remind me of a younger, less-polished version of Aaron Rodgers. It's the athleticism, the movement in the pocket, the ability to throw the ball from different arm angles. He can drop down like a second baseman. He can throw over the top. He has developed much more in terms of varying his velocity, because it's never just about how hard you can throw the ball. It's about touch down the field on seam routes, touch over the top on fade routes and, yes, he can still rip the ball when he needs to.
