MELBOURNE are reported to have beaten grand final opponents the Roosters to the coveted signature of Queensland five-eighth Cameron Munster.

The Courier-Mail reported Munster will begin talks with the Storm after Sunday night’s grand final on a three-year deal worth one million a season.

As many as seven NRL clubs are in the running for Munster’s services, including the Cowboys and the Roosters, but Munster appears set to shun rival approaches and recommit to the Storm.

Munser took out the Dally M five-eighth of the year award on Wednesday night and is rated as one of the top players in the game.

The Storm will have funds to spare after the retirement of Billy Slater and possibly Cameron Smith after the grand final.

Munster was expected to test his value on the open market, but it now appears he is happy to remain at his first and only NRL club, until at least 2021.

Munster plays in his third straight grand final on Sunday and is a Origin and international player, so it is little wonder he will be the latest player to join the one million a season club.
