HE’S still 12,000 kilometres away on holidays in Canada but Jeff Horn will be with his Stretton Boxing Club teammates in spirit when they fight in a major boxing card at Brisbane’s Pullman & Mercure Hotel on Friday night.

Horn’s London Olympic teammate Cameron Hammond and 2014 Commonwealth Games silver medallist Joe Goodall will both fight on the undercard on a huge night of boxing.

Another London Olympian, world rated cruiserweight Jai Opetaia from the NSW Central Coast, faces Ipswich powerhouse Kurtis Pegoraro in the main event.

Opetaia, a former world junior champion, is unbeaten in 15 fights while Pegoraro has an 11-3 win-loss ledger.

Hammond and Goodall are both coached by Glenn Rushton, who guided Horn to victory over Manny Pacquiao at Suncorp Stadium last year.

Hammond represented Australia at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and 2012 Olympics and is rebuilding his career after a loss to Toowoomba’s Kris George in a 2016 Commonwealth welterweight title fight.

Goodall, who won a bronze medal at the world amateur championships last year, has been sparring with Bethania’s World Youth champion Justis Huni.

Horn said both his teammates had the potential to be world champions.

“Cameron is a brilliant, brilliant boxer and he only has to believe in his talent to take the next step,’’ Horn said.

“Joe is a 103kg heavyweight who moves like a middleweight. He’s proved himself against the best amateurs in the world and now he’s on the road to doing it as a professional.’’

Rushton is set to meet with Anthony Mundine this week to discuss a fight with Horn mooted for Suncorp Stadium in November.

Friday’s card also sees the debut of brilliant Pine Rivers lightweight Liam Wilson

Meanwhile, Horn’s sparring partner Liam Paro has cracked the world ratings and is now the No. 10 contender for the WBO junior-welterweight held by American Maurice Hooker.
