West Indies Carlos Brathwaite has been fined 15 per cent of his match fees and handed one demerit point for "showing dissent at an umpire's decision" against India in Manchester, which qualifies as a Level 1 breach in the ICC Code of Conduct.

The incident occurred during the 42nd over of India's innings. Brathwaite was protesting against the umpire's decision of declaring a wide off his bowling, which was reported by on-field umpires Richard Kettleborough and Richard Illingworth, third umpire Michael Gough and fourth official Aleem Dar.

Here's the commentary for that particular ball:

41.6 Brathwaite to Hardik Pandya, wide, Brathwaite isn't pleased with this wide call. Marginal one I reckon. Slower bouncer on middle and leg, Pandya tries to swat it away with a pull stroke but misses as this slips slightly down leg

Brathwaite admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Chris Broad, the match referee, and so there was no need for a formal hearing.

Brathwaite now has two demerit points since the introduction of the revised Code in September 2016. His first offence was against England on June 14 in Southampton.
