BRAD Fittler looked like he was close to coming to the aid of Blues and Roosters star Latrell Mitchell during his grand final scuffle with Will Chambers.

Chambers took exception to a Mitchell tackle after the Storm centre was bundled into touch, throwing the ball in his rivals face and sparking an all in push and shove between the Roosters and the Storm.

Fittler was nearby doing his sideline commentary and hilariously looked like he was busting to get involved and defend Mitchell.

“For a moment there I thought the NSW Origin coach Brad Fittler was going to help out Latrell Mitchell one of his players and make a tackle also on Will Chambers,” Warren Smith joked in commentary.

“I think emotion might have started to get the better of Freddy in that situation,” Greg Alexander added.

Fittler’s instinct appeared to kick in when he noticed Mitchell and Chambers getting ready to rumble and he moved toward the two combatants.

Instead players from both the Roosters and the Storm came to Mitchell and Chambers’ aid, leaving Fittler to watch on closely.

One thing is for sure you could never accuse Fittler of failing to stand up for his players.
