BLAKE Ferguson thought he had snagged the match winner to cap a stunning performance as the only Roosters star who truly shone in their shock loss to the Wests Tigers.

And to celebrate the four-pointer, the controversial winger copied a trend started on Friday night by his close mate and fellow Origin bad boy Josh Dugan, dropping to a kneel and wrapping his wrist in a nod to hit online video game ‘Fortnite’.

Ferguson’s try, with just 14 minutes remaining, gave the Roosters a four-point lead in what had been a low-scoring slugfest.

It was a fitting reward for a performance that also included a whopping 274 running metres from 21 runs, three linebreaks and three tackle busts.

If not for a bombed try from star fullback James Tedesco, who had a stinker of a Roosters debut, he would have also added a try assist.

However in the end Ferguson’s try only set the stage for a phenomenal finish, with Wests Tigerssurprise packet Corey Thompson scoring an incredible late try in the corner to level the scores and Tui Lolohea nailing the sideline conversion to win the game.

Dugan and Ferguson’s try celebrations simulated the act a character in ‘Fortnite’ will make when they are using a health pack to heal themselves.

Dugan’s version may have been a cheeky in-joke pointing to his unfortunate ability to find an injury — and Ferguson hasn’t had a charmed career on that front either.

Many fans found the health pack reference hilarious given Dugan’s injury history, giving it to the Test player, while Ferguson’s came back to bite him minutes later.
