Braves starting pitcher Mike Foltynewicz lost his arbitration case with the team Saturday, but he had much bigger news in his life later in the day.

The right-hander had sought $2.3 million, but the Braves' offer of $2.2 million prevailed, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. That virtually amounts to a rounding error in a multi-million contract.

We are 100 percent certain Foltynewicz quickly forgot about the arbitration loss, because later in the day, his wife Brittany gave birth to their son, Michael Jett Foltynewicz. The couple shared the news on Instagram. In case you're wondering, that $100,000 difference in Foltynewicz's arbitration case was the smallest amount in an MLB case this year. While it seems such a trivial amount could have been easily resolved with a compromise, according to the Journal-Constitution, the Braves have a "file-and-trial" arbitration policy that doesn't involve negotiation.

The 26-year-old Foltynewicz went 10-13 with a 4.79 ERA in 29 games in 2017. But he showed incredible potential in midseason, going 9-1 with a 3.56 ERA in 14 starts from May 12 through July 25 before slumping in his last nine starts
