Uttar Pradesh and Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Rinku Singh has been withdrawn from the India A squad for the second unofficial Test against Sri Lanka A - from May 31 - as the BCCI handed him a three-month suspension for partaking in an unauthorised T20 competition in Abu Dhabi. The ban is set to begin from June 1.

An official statement from the board said that Rinku did not seek prior permission for his participation, which is a violation of BCCI rules and regulations.

"As per the BCCI norms, a player registered with the Board cannot play in any tournaments abroad without the Board's permission. Mr. Rinku Singh therefore has been suspended with immediate effect for a period of three months starting June 1, 2019," the release stated.

The 21-year-old Rinku has played 19 first-class matches and 24 List A games apart from 47 appearances in T20s, which includes nine matches in the IPL.
