They finished bottom of the ladder in 2017 and once again the Stars look anything but their nickname yet again in 2018.

The Stars are winless from their opening two matches, after slumping to a six-wicket loss to the Hurricanes.

In contrast, the Hurricanes are once again flying and have two victories to start their campaign to sit alongside the Renegades at the top of the standings.

Here are the BBL best moments from the Hurricanes’ victory in Hobart.

Is it time to take Hussey’s Wade Test call seriously?
He’s the leading runscorer in this year’s Sheffield Shield competition (571 runs at 63.44) and Matthew Wade has carried his form into the shortest format of the game.

The former Australian wicket-keeper brought up his half-century in style, belting a six over mid-on.

He didn’t add another run, as he fell sweeping for 52.

But when he fell to leave the Hurricanes at 3-112, the game was as good as wrapped up.

Earlier in the month former Australian batsman Mike Hussey said Wade was good enough to bat in the top six in Test cricket.

It would still be unlikely Australian selectors picked Wade as a specialist batsman.

But with four Tests in the summer left, Peter Handscomb needs to score runs at the MCG or Hussey’s comments might not seem so farfetched.

Maxwell really is the Big Show
He made a fourth ball duck against the Thunder, but the best of Maxwell turned up in Hobart.

The Stars’ captain came to the crease with his team in a spot of bother and tied down too, but very quickly Maxwell took charge.

The Big Show belted five sixes during his 31 ball 47.

In the process he lost two balls in consecutive deliveries off Clive Rose, the first of which coming from a reverse sweep.

DJ Bravo brings the wrong playbook
He’s one of the best T20 players in the world, but Dwayne Bravo looked like a man lost at sea in the River Derwent.

The West Indian, who made the switch from the Renegades to the Stars, hardly got bat on ball all afternoon. Bravo fell for 12 off 12.

Worse was still to come.

D’Arcy Short took a liking to Bravo and smacked 20 off his first over.

Best quote
Wearing the player mic, hard hitting batsman Ben McDermott was asked how he was going against teenage Nepalese wrist spinner Sandeep Lamichhane.

It’s fair to say, McDermott didn’t want a bar of broadcaster Mark Howard.

“Yeah, it’s hard to pick them.”

Howard: “OK, we’ll leave you.”

McDermott: “Thanks.”

Shortly after, McDermott was trapped in front and given out lbw for 28. He could, however, consider himself a bit stiff, as the ball was going miles over the stumps.
